The Warranty Group Announces Agreement With Hermes/Compra Facil S.A.

Chicago – The Warranty Group, a provider of warranty solutions and related programs, announced an agreement with Hermes/Compra Facil S.A., the largest Brazilian retail catalog company, with more than 10 million customers. Under the agreement, The Warranty Group Brazil will provide underwriting, administration and training support for Hermes’s extended warranty program which was launched in July 2013.

The new program is being implemented throughout Hermes/Compra Facil’s channels, which are e-commerce and telemarketing.

The Warranty Group Adds Industry Leader in IT Role

Chicago –The Warranty Group Inc. (TWG) appointed Tom Kilian chief information officer. Kilian is responsible for managing TWG’s global enterprise systems, infrastructure and processes across its 33 global offices and will focus on bringing new and differentiating technology solutions to the company and its customers. He reports to Tom Warsop, CEO.

Kilian comes to TWG with an extensive background in IT development and corporate management. He joins the company after working as a strategic consultant leading a global assessment of the company’s IT infrastructure and operations, and contributing to the restructuring of the company’s European operations. In addition to previous M&A integration experience, his 35-year career includes CIO and COO positions at Conseco Inc. and other operating and information technology roles within the global insurance and financial services industries.

“Tom’s long history of successfully standardizing IT platforms will improve our operating efficiency, while providing a single integration point for our global clients,” said Warsop. “We will leverage his deep industry experience and strong leadership to strengthen our position as a market leader in warranties, insured service plans and related solutions worldwide.”

The Warranty Group Makes Equity Investment in NUA

CHICAGO – The Warranty Group completed an equity investment in National Underwriting Agencies Pty Ltd (NUA).Based in Brisbane, Australia and established in 1999, NUA is owned by Alan Brewis and Noel Johns. NUA are long standing Lloyds Coverholders and have developed an extensive range of niche personal insurance products.

Amongst the products NUA currently provide are: consumer credit insurance, event ticket insurance, accidental damage insurance for various consumer products such as mobile phones and eyeglasses; and lifestyle protection products including accidental injury, trauma and involuntary unemployment programs. NUA’s major clients include OPSM, ANZ Bank, Sydney Opera House, Showbiz International and various ticketing agencies.

“Partnering with NUA provides us with new products and clientele that will expand The Warranty Group’s global leadership position,” said Mike Frosch, president and chief operating officer at The Warranty Group. “We look forward to working with the NUA team, while introducing their unique portfolio of products into the U.S. market.”

Warranty Group Opens Illinois Call Center

Champaign, Ill. – The Warranty Group opened a new call center facility here. The building was opened in July as the company continues to increase its operating staff.

“The Champaign call center was opened to accommodate the additional call volumes our company is experiencing from our continued growth and to provide redundancy within our other operating centers for business continuity purposes,” said Tom Warsop, CEO. “After looking at several other locations, we chose Champaign because of its proximity to our headquarter location, its positive business environment and diverse workforce population.”

The property, managed by Fox Development Corp., is equipped to handle both inbound and outbound call center activities. As the company continues to expand its business, the facility can accommodate nearly 200 work stations. The Champaign facility also provides The Warranty Group with disaster recovery capabilities, ensuring continued service to customers should a disruption ever occur at its primary facility in Chicago.

“We are excited to be part of the Champaign community both now and for years to come,” said Pam Gruszka, vice president, Human Resources. “We are actively recruiting positions and look forward to providing opportunities at The Warranty Group as our company continues to grow.”

Members of The Warranty Group management team and the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new facility on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.

The Warranty Group Names New CEO

CHICAGO — The Warranty Group today announced the appointment of Thomas Warsop as CEO, effective Aug. 6. Warsop will also be elected to the company’s board of directors.

Warsop served most recently as group president of distribution and sales at Fiserv Inc., where he was responsible for its depository institution services, maintaining relationships with Fiserv account processing clients, and oversight of its global sales organization.

“Tom brings to The Warranty Group a proven track record of strong global operational expertise and a client-focused passion,” said Robert Le Blanc, chairman of The Warranty Group’s board of directors. “Merging the capabilities of The Warranty Group with Tom’s global leadership experience will deliver increased value to our clients, associates and shareholders.”

Predictive Warranty Modeling Keeps You Ahead of the Game: The Warranty Group Presents at 2012 WCM Conference

Joel Appelbaum, Global Chief Underwriting and Actuarial Officer at The Warranty Group, presented on successful implementation of predictive warranty modeling at the 2012 Warranty Chain Management Conference in Orlando.

Appelbaum spoke on different applications for predictive analytics that can improve business processes, reduce expenses, change risk selection processes, and improve the bottom line.

“Our investment in this was to bring along and leverage our actuarial capabilities to help us predict potential fraud, reduce expenses, and find the best opportunities for ourselves and for our clients,” said Appelbaum. “Predictive models react well to frequency-­‐driven data, and the warranty business is very much frequency-­‐driven.”

From prospecting to trends in future pricing and finding fraud in claims settlements, predictive analytics drives efficiency.

“You’ll have more success finding fraud,” Appelbaum continued, “If you know to say ‘put more scrutiny here.’ We can identify outliers and predict their continuation based on data patterns. Historically we looked at reports that told us what happened. Predictive analytics is what’s happening now and what’s likely to happen. By leveraging your data, it gives you a framework for better decision-­‐making. It can be as simple as predictive analytics about financial evaluation—what is the likelihood that a client will gain in revenue over a year’s time— all of this can be automated through a predictive model.”
