NIADA Member Services Creates New Partnership Program

ARLINGTON, Texas — The National Indepedent Dealers Association’s member services division has created a new partnership program designed to offer members a wider array of companies whose products and services they can trust, according to an association announcement.

“This new affinity partnership initiative focuses on firms that serve certain segments of the insurance/financial services markets as well as new leading-edge entrepreneurial firms entering our market,” NIADA Senior Vice President of member services Scott Lilja said. “We are excited to kick off 2017 with this innovative and powerful new member services initiative.”

The NIADA National Partner Program (NAPP) will include partner providers that will provide a broad portfolio of products and services that independent vehicle dealers use on a daily basis. NAPP partners, according to the association, will undergo the same scrutiny and due diligence as the companies in NIADA’s successful national corporate partner and national member benefit programs.

Inaugural NAPP members include AutoPoint, Berkshire Risk Services LLC, DealerRater, Frazer Computing, High Tech Locksmiths, Keystone Automotive Operations, Northland Used Car Leasing and Daily Rentals and Reynolds and Reynolds Document Services.

Reynolds Becomes NIADA Member Benefit Partner

ARLINGTON, Texas, and DAYTON, Ohio — Reynolds and Reynolds has joined the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA)’s Member Benefit Partner program, and will provide its business forms, sales contracts, compliance services, branding products and other dealership supplies to the association’s members throughout North America.

“We’ve worked informally alongside the NIADA and its members for a number of years,” said Jerry Kirwan, senior vice president and general manager of Reynolds Document Services. “This agreement helps solidify our commitment to providing a broad portfolio of business documents and supplies that help independent auto dealers manage their compliance risk, brand their stores and improve their operation efficiencies.”

Founded in 1866 as a business forms printer, Reynolds and Reynolds is a leader in the development of automotive documents since the 1920s. Among the company’s document solutions is the Reynolds LAW 553 Universal Retail Installment Sales Contract, the most widely accepted document in automotive finance.

NIADA Partners with EFG Companies

DALLAS, Texas — The National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA) and EFG Companies have announced a new strategic partnership to drive greater F&I profit opportunities for independent dealerships nationwide.

Independent auto dealers operate in a highly fragmented F&I product market where there is an abundance of products, but a lack of relevant and consistent dealership engagement in terms of F&I training, compliance and recruiting, officials said. Equifax Partners With NIADA

ARLINGTON, Texas — Equifax Inc., a global information solutions provider, announced this week that it has signed an agreement with the National Independent Automotive Dealers Association (NIADA) to be a National Member Benefit Partner.

Through this relationship, Equifax will provide NIADA-member dealers access to the next generation of tools and information to help them deliver vehicles, including its recently upgraded online portal focused on improving a dealer’s ability to facilitate their used-vehicle sales.

The online portal, Equifax ePort, provides independent dealers access to auto shoppers’ credit data as well as verification of income and employment to remove lender stipulations, mitigate fraud and ultimately speed the delivery of used vehicles. Equifax ePort also enables simple and more secure access to the daily data and information that dealerships need to work more efficiently with both consumers and lenders.

“Equifax ePort is a revolutionary approach to solving headaches frequently encountered by our member dealers,” said Scott Lilja, senior vice president of member services at the NIADA. “Our members can now streamline the delivery process and drive sales by leveraging a single source for consumer information.”

The NIADA and Equifax recently began working together to identify the common pain points independent dealers face. Through this collaboration, both organizations believe they will be more strongly positioned to better help independent dealers overcome some of the identified challenges by providing information in one easy-to-access portal. As a result, officials said, dealers are able to clear stipulations quickly with instant access to income and employment verifications; access multiple credit scores to work more effectively and efficiently with lenders; streamline fraud and checks and similar verifications to stay focused on selling; and help provide an auditable and documented process for interactions with consumers and lenders.

NIADA Names 2013 National Quality Dealer of the Year

Las Vegas – Joe McCloskey, president of McCloskey Motors in Colorado Springs, Colo., was named 2013 National Quality Dealer of the Year by the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association during NIADA’s 67th Annual Convention and Expo in Las Vegas.

In a ceremony televised live from Caesars Palace on NIADA.TV, McCloskey was chosen from the State Quality Dealers nominated for highest honor given among NIADA’s dealer members.

McCloskey, 55, started his business with his wife, Ann, in 1989 after a successful career as a sales manager for new car dealerships. McCloskey Motors now includes two sales locations – McCloskey Truck Town and McCloskey Imports & 4x4s – as well as two service locations – McCloskey All Makes Auto & Truck Service and Joe’s Car and Truck Repair – and employs 63 people in the Colorado Springs area. The company sells nearly 1,500 used vehicles and repairs more than 3,500 vehicles annually.

NIADA National Quality Dealer candidates are judged on a variety of factors, including contributions to the automotive industry and community involvement. A panel of judges from Northwood University selects the annual winner.

NIADA chief executive officer Michael Linn said McCloskey “has gained an exceptional reputation, not only with his customers, but throughout his community and the industry itself.”

Linn said McCloskey “has given back to his community in so many ways. Last summer, the community of Colorado Springs was devastated by the Waldo Canyon wildfire. More than 300 homes were destroyed and more than 20,000 people were evacuated. Joe was proactive in recognizing and addressing his community’s needs and used his dealership as a vital hub for donations. His efforts, along with his own funding, raised more than $40,000.”

In addition, the McCloskeys have long been involved with numerous community charities, including the Pikes Peak Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Care and Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado and Colorado Springs City Parks. They help with Muscular Dystrophy Association projects and the Wounded Warrior Project, and are sponsors of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

McCloskey has been heavily involved in NIADA and the Colorado IADA ever since he joined the ranks of independent dealers, having served as CIADA’s president and chairman of the board. He has worked to promote the industry as a speaker and writer, appearing on local television and radio and in area newspapers as well as national media. He is recognized as an expert in subprime auto financing, and in 2002 was asked to be an expert speaker at the Automobile NAFTA Summit in Mexico City.

In 2012, McCloskey became the first dealer in the CIADA’s 72-year history to be named Colorado’s Quality Dealer of the Year for the second time. He first earned the award in 1994.

McCloskey is an automotive lifer, starting in the car business as an 8-year-old pumping gas at a service station before becoming a mechanics’ helper at 13, a lot boy at 15 and a salesman at 17. He said his business’ success is based on the company’s professionalism and enthusiasm for customer service, which shows up in a high percentage of repeat and referral customers.

“Our goal is not to just sell you a vehicle today,” he said, “it is to save you amazing amounts of time and money and deliver a level of customer service that exceeds your expectations.”

“Given the excellent reputation and community service of McCloskey Motors over the years, it is obvious why Joe McCloskey has been selected as Quality Dealer of the Year,” Colorado Springs city councilman Bernie Herpin said.
