Industry Summit 2018 to Feature Technology Shootout

ORLANDO, Fla. — Organizers of the annual Industry Summit announced that this year’s event will include the first-ever Technology Shootout, one of several new features planned for this year’s show. Industry Summit 2018 will be held Oct. 8–10 at the Caribe Royale Orlando in Orlando, Fla.

The Technology Shootout will feature 10 companies selected by organizers to deliver a live, 10-minute presentation on a new and exciting dealer- or F&I-targeted solution or a fresh twist on an existing software category or product type. The winner will be chosen by audience vote.

“As the industry evolves and progresses, so must Industry Summit, and you will see plenty of evidence of that this year,” said David Gesualdo, show chair and publisher of F&I and Showroom and Auto Dealer Today. “The Technology Shootout is only one example.”

An all-new RV and Powersports track also is expected to make its debut at this year’s show, joining such returning features and events as sales and F&I training, Compliance Summit, and compliance training and certification by Automotive Compliance Education (ACE).

This year marks Industry Summit’s second visit to Orlando and third time away from its longtime home of Las Vegas. Last year’s event, held at Dallas’ Gaylord Texan Resort, was a critical success despite a series of devastating hurricanes that kept attendees and speakers from parts of Texas and the Southeast at home.

“Last year’s show was bereft of Florida dealers, and this year’s show could very well be dominated by them,” Gesualdo said. “All we can do is roll with the punches and deliver the best possible event for our attendees and supporters, and we fully expect 2018 to be the best Industry Summit ever.”

Industry Summit 2017: Big Value in Big D

DALLAS — Organizers of the annual Industry Summit announced that this year’s event, scheduled for Sept. 11–14, 2017, at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas, near Dallas, will be the biggest and best value in the show’s 13-year history.

Produced by the publishers of Auto Dealer Today and F&I and Showroom, Industry Summit was launched as the F&I Conference in 2005. It has since grown into the premier event for dealers, sales and F&I professionals, agents, and executives, and has retained its focus on expert-level training for every department in the dealership.

This year’s event will be produced in partnership with the following:

  • The Best Training Day Ever, featuring Dave Anderson, Jeff Cowan, David Lewis, and Alan Ram
  • Greg Goebel’s Special Finance Conference
  • F&I Think Tank, featuring Ethical F&I Managers’ Marv Eleazer
  • Compliance Summit, including onsite certification by Gil Van Over’s Automotive Compliance Education (ACE)

“This is the all-star team,” said David Gesualdo, show chair and publisher of Auto Dealer Today and F&I and Showroom. “Every dealer event has value, but you would have to attend them all to get the education and networking opportunities Industry Summit offers in one place.”

AMS Announces Industry Summit Giveaway Winner

HADDONFIELD, N.J. — Automotive Mobile Solutions (AMS) announced that Roy O’Brien Ford in Saint Clair Shores, Mich., won the company’s giveaway at Industry Summit in Las Vegas. The dealership will enjoy full use of AMS’s LeadsBeacon mobile wallet platform for the next year.

Joseph A. Opolski II, business manager at Roy O’Brien Ford, attended “Get Your Customers Back,” a presentation on mobile and proximity marketing delivered by John F. Possumato, AMS’s founder and CEO, and accepted the prize on behalf of the dealership.

“We really enjoyed the entire Industry Summit, and the presentation on geofencing and proximity marketing through mobile wallet and apps — and winning the prize of use of the platform for a year — was the icing on the cake,” Opolski said. “We can’t wait to get started utilizing all of the customer-facing features, like couponing, loyalty punch cards, and especially mobile wallet digital business cards.”

“Automotive dealers who are utilizing Apple Wallet and Android Wallet capabilities are on the cutting edge of mobile wallet technologies, on par with some of the major national retailers on the scene today, such as Starbucks, Best Buy and Target,” said Possumato. “We look forward to working with Joe and the team at Roy O’Brien Ford to use our unique platform to enhance customer acquisition and retention for both sales and service.”

Possumato described the industry trends toward geofencing and mobile wallet as “clear and dramatic,” noting that the technology will soon be in wide use among auto dealers.

“Soon, if you are not reaching your customer through a mobile first and focused strategy and sales initiatives, with tools like TCPA-compliant texting, and now, mobile wallet with proximity marketing capabilities, including geotargeted text, coupons and flash sales, you won’t really be reaching many consumers at all,” Possumato said. “Really, how many email ‘blast’ notifications does a car dealer today have to send out to get a few responses? The proof is in the numbers.”

Nomination Deadline for F&I Dealer of the Year Announced

TORRANCE, Calif. — F&I and Showroom magazine has announced the deadline to nominate dealers for its 2015 F&I and Dealer of the Year award. Nominations must be received by July 31, 2015, and the winner will be announced at this year’s Industry Summit, scheduled for Sept. 8-10 at the Paris Las Vegas

Dealership employees, general agents, F&I product providers and technology vendors can complete an online nomination form to nominate their dealerships and dealer clients. Supporting materials for a nominee, such as newspaper clippings or awards announcements, can be emailed to email hidden; JavaScript is required.

“Once again, we’re looking for a highly profitable F&I department that demonstrates a commitment to regulatory compliance, ethics and a customer-centric F&I process,” said Gregory Arroyo, editorial director of F&I and Showroom magazine. “If that describes your dealership, then nominate it today.”

Serving as the sponsor of the award for the fifth straight year is The Warranty Group and their Resource Dealer Group. “We are again proud to sponsor F&I and Showroom’s F&I Pacesetter and F&I Dealer of the Year awards — recognizing those dealerships with outstanding F&I performance that consistently deliver customer satisfaction and a commitment to regulatory compliance.” said Charlie Robinson, president and COO of Resource Automotive, a subsidiary of The Warranty Group Inc. “Keep up the good work and best of luck to all this year.”

Arroyo added: “I’d just like to thank Charlie and his team for once again sponsoring this award. It means a lot to us at the magazine. Their support once again illustrates the company’s commitment to the F&I industry.”

The magazine will first select five F&I Pacesetters of the Year, which will serve as finalists for the coveted F&I Dealer of the Year award. A representative from each of the finalists will then be invited to Industry Summit 2015, where they’ll be honored during a special ceremony to open the magazine’s conference. They’ll also receive a two-night stay at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel, the site of this year’s conference, and a complimentary full-conference pass.

Those selected as F&I Pacesetters will also be profiled in the magazine’s special conference issue and the September edition of F&I and Showroom magazine.

At the conclusion of the special ceremony, one finalist will be named the 2015 F&I Dealer of the Year. That dealership will appear on the cover of the magazine’s November issue, which will include a four-page profile on the dealership’s sales and F&I operations. Past winners of the F&I Dealer of the Year award include Vaden Automotive Group, Serpentini Chevrolet of Strongsville, Lithia Motors Inc., Riverside Auto Group, The Suburban Collection, Tuttle-Click Automotive Group, and Vaden Automotive Group.
